Issue:

How do I synchronize my Outlook address book (contacts) with my SAGE Workplace web appMail so that I can have access to my contacts from the road when I'm using WebMail?

Solution:

The SAGE WebMail service provides the ability to access your SAGE email account from the road using a convenient web-based interface.  However, many users have all of their addresses in their Outlook "contacts" area, which isn't easily accessible when you are using a computer other than the one that has your Outlook on it.  To address this issue, SAGE provides the unique ability to synchronize your Outlook contacts with webmail so that you can access all of the addresses in your address book from webmail.

To set-up synchronization of your Outlook contacts list and your WebMail address book, please follow these steps:

1.  From the computer that has your Outlook on it (and your contacts), login to your webmail account by visiting webmail.yourdomain.com or webmail.promoplace.com.

2.  Click on the Options menu and then choose ComAgent.  Follow the directions on the page to download the ComAgent installer.  This will install the software on your computer that allows for the synchronization with outlook.

3.  Once the software is installed, start the ComAgent software.  You should see a globe in the system tray in the lower-right corner of your screen (by the clock).

4.  Right-click on the globe in your system tray and click on Properties.

5.  Click the Synchronization tab.  Then, check "Synchronize data with Mdaemon/Worldclient".  Choose your email program from the drop-down list next to "Synchronize with this data provider".  The data provider should be set to whatever program your addresses are stored in (e.g., Outlook or Outlook Express).  Then click Apply (you should not need to change any of the other settings).

6.  Click on "Synchronize now" to initiate a manual synchronization.  Click OK once the Synchronization is completed.

7.  Now, go back to your webmail window in your web browser.  If you click on the address book, you should now see all of your Outlook contacts!

Reminders:

* Remember to keep the ComAgent running on your computer that has Outlook on it if you want the automatic synchronization to work.  In other words, ComAgent does not have to be running for you to access your contacts from WebMail, but ComAgent does have to be running if you want changes in your Outlook contacts to be updated in WebMail automatically.  You can add ComAgent to the Startup folder on your computer if you want it to always start automatically.

* ComAgent only needs to be running on the computer that has Outlook and your contacts on it.  You do not need to be running ComAgent on the computer that you use to access your WebMail.  So, leave ComAgent running on your main computer and then you can always access your contacts through WebMail from anywhere.
