Issue:

By customizing your product search options in SAGE Workplace Windows app, you can save time and money for your business by narrowing down product results to your desired supplier groups, shipping points, and currencies.

Solution:

To get started, log into SAGE Workplace Windows app. Next, click “Tools” in the top toolbar and select “Options” from the drop-down list.

Keep Your Ship Points in Canada:

In the “Options” window, click the “Research” option, and under the “Sorting” section, check the “Shipping point sorting stays within the same country first.” box. This allows you to view local suppliers first when searching for products. This is best used when, for example, you’re looking for a product and you want to narrow down your search to products shipping from within a 100-mile radius from your postal code, but you live on the border of the U.S. and Canada. With the “Shipping point sorting” option checked, your search results will show only Canadian suppliers first, followed by American suppliers, thus helping you save money on international shipping costs.

Converting Pricing from USD to CAD:

In the “Options” window, click the “Pricing” option. You can set your currency to “CAD - Canadian Dollars” under the “Currency Selection” section. This way, when you click on an item priced by the supplier in USD, their pricing with automatically appear in CAD. On a product detail screen, you can see that the pricing has been converted by a stamp on the right that says, “From USD”. Conversion rates used in SAGE are updated daily.

One thing to keep in mind is when you restrict your search to only Canadian suppliers, or search for products that ship from Canada, if the supplier has their products priced in CAD you will see the original Canadian pricing for each product, that hasn’t been converted from another currency.

Creating Preference Groups:

In the “Options” window, click the “Preference Groups” option. Here you can create an unlimited number of preference groups to narrow down your product search fields. To do so, click “Add New Preference Group,” fill in your group information, and tag it with a unique color.

To add a supplier to a specific preference group, you simply need to pull up their supplier profile page, either through a supplier search or a product search, and click the “My Supplier Info” tab. In the Preference Group drop-down menu, check the box next to the group you want to add them to.

Then, when browsing for products, you can apply preference groups to your supplier search criteria by clicking on “Selected Groups” and including or excluding a specific group.

Show Canadian Postal Rates:

In the “Options” window, click the “Misc” option. Here you can check the “Show Canada Post rates” box to see the Canada Post service rates, along with FedEx, UPS, and USPS when estimating your product shipment costs. When you’ve located a product, you can see all your shipping options by clicking the “Additional” tab at the top and hitting the “Shipping Estimator” button. Then, enter your postal code on the right, the number of items you’re looking to purchase and click “Calculate.” As you scroll through your shipping options, you’ll be able to see FedEx, UPS, USPS and Canada Post rates. It’s important to note that the Shipping Estimator will not account for certain duties and taxes associated with shipping locations.

Product Search Field Options:

In a Product Search, you can narrow down your results in several different ways.  First, by choosing a country or province in the “Location” field, which is determined by the supplier’s corporate address.

Secondly, you can search by the product’s “Ship Point” by either a certain mile radius from the FOB “Zip/Postal” or the “Country/Region” drop-down menu.  Keep in mind that searching by ship point could include US suppliers that have FOB Canada.

You can also to choose to show only catalogs priced in Canadian dollars by choosing “CAD” in the Currency drop-down menu.

The fourth and final way is to narrow down results by suppliers who are NAFTA proficient by using the appropriate check box at the bottom under “Other Filter Options”.
